How to Download, Install and Update iTunes on Windows (Without Microsoft Store)

In this quick guide I'm going to show you how to download, install and update iTunes on Windows, all without using the Microsoft Store.

iTunes is a program that acts as a media player, media library and for most Windows users, a mobile device management utility for iPhones and iPads.

You'll need iTunes installed on your computer if you want to connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and in this guide, I'll show you how to install iTunes on Windows without the Microsoft store.

I also have a video version if you'd prefer to watch it:

Start by opening up your web browser of choice and then head to the official Apple support and downloads webpage.

Once you're on the downloads page, just scroll down until you see the latest version of iTunes available for Windows and now, you'll need to choose between Windows 32 bit or Windows 64 bit.

Now, if you don't know what you have installed on your system, whether you're using Windows 10 or Windows 11, just right-click on your start button and then select "System" which will then bring you to the system properties of your computer.
Under system type you'll see if you have a 64-bit operating system or 32-bit operating system.

With that in mind, just select the version that you have installed on your computer. In my case, it's 64-bit.

Then once it's finished downloading, just click on the iTunes setup file to start the installation.

Then you'll get to the iTunes installation wizard which is really straightforward. Just click on next, leave everything on the default selections and click on install, accept any prompts, and then just wait for it to finish.

Accept any prompts that might pop up during installation.

And then just click on finish and it'll open iTunes after we click on finish as well.

Agree to the software license terms and then you have iTunes installed on your computer.

To update iTunes to the latest version available, follow these steps:

I also have a video version if you'd prefer to watch it:

To update iTunes on Windows, you'll first need to open the iTunes that's installed on your computer. Once you've done that, just click on the Help button at the top of the iTunes window and then click on Check for Updates.

When you do this, it'll prompt you that there's a new version available (if there is a new version available.)
Then, you can click on Download iTunes.

And then the Apple software updater will launch, which should be flashing orange on the taskbar. The message says that there's a new version available and it should also be selected automatically.
You can leave it like that and then just click on "Install One Item."

Accept any prompts along the way and then just wait for it to download and install.

Once it's finished updating iTunes on Windows, then it'll prompt you to restart your computer. You'll need to click on Yes to restart your computer.

Once your computer has finished restarting, just open up iTunes again and then agree to the software license terms.

Just to verify if you have the latest version of iTunes, you can click on Help again and then on Check for Updates again to see if there are any available updates.

iTunes should display a message saying that you have the current version installed.
